Old Photo Love.

I love old photographs. I can't help but wish for a more simpler time. A time before the internet, before cell phones, before social networking. It may sound a bit hypocritical since i run an online business, am a blogger, love my iphone and have a facebook account but i can't tell you how often i think to myself "i would trade it all to live back in the 50's or the 60's, heck, i'd even take the 70's." not only for the amazing clothes and furniture but i feel like life was a bit more innocent, there was privacy, the times seemed safer and pure. people were more respectful. i like that. anyway i came across photographer iron weaning recently and her "back to the future" project. she loves old photos and is obsessive about recreating them today. her work is brilliant and inspiring. take a look for yourself...

Her work is just incredible. The idea is just amazing and i might take use of it with a picture of me and my family.
Make sure to check her out at iron weaning

Passion for Music - Saybia

Saybia - I Surrender

Saybia is Danish rock band, which formed in Nyborg in 1993. They are well-nigh unknown outside of Scandinavia, even though in my opinion they have what it takes to reach the international level. Sadly it requires a whole lot of promotion for a Danish music band to get success worldwide.
The name Saybia is a composition of “say” and “phobia”. The original explanation from the band was that the name was inspired by a logo on a cymbal from a Sabian Firm.

The members of the band are:

Søren Huss
Jeppe Langebek Knudsen
Palle Sørensen
Sebastian Sandstrøm
Jess Jensen

For now I will dish out a videolink of one great song from Saybia. Hope you will  enjoy as much as I do, and continue your experience with Saybia by yourself.

Quick 15 Tips

Yesterday I was sitting and enjoying a hot cup of coffe, trying to twist my mind for something interesting for this next article. A good fellow of mine ask me for a list of general tips. Since everyone loves top lists, I thought ill dish out something simple and easy. Nevertheless, it's not seen often and it's style changing. Heres what I came up with:
15 Fashion Tips – From Me To You:
1. Fit is KingA step toward greater style, which will dramatically improve your look, is making sure everything fits impeccably. Most guys wear clothes that are way too large. Be sure that everything you wear is hugging the shape of your body – without being tight and uncomfortable. Bad fit is an disease.
2. Keep it simple – You want a personal wardrobe that looks great on you, but don’t go for the overkill and overdo it. Often wearing more than three pieces of jewelry or more than three colors won’t effect your look positively. Don’t dress like a rock star if you aren’t in a band.  If you want to be flashy, a simpler but stylish look would be sporting a black striped dress shirt with a white blazer, a dark pair of jeans, a dressy belt, and your sharpest dress shoes. You could also add a flashy watch or a simple accessory like an interesting necklace, but nothing more.
3. Change the way you see casual - casual doesn’t have to be boring. Try to seek inspiration from people that wear casual a bit different. Pimping up your casual cloth is high attractive.
4. Pay attention to your supporting pieces - Some sweaters are lean and others are big and chunky. The first rule of thumb is that your top and bottom halves need to match. If you’re wearing a big, chunky, rugged fisherman knit sweater, your bottom needs to be rugged too. Don’t wear a fisherman’s sweater with a beautiful silk-and-wool suit pant. Instead, wear it with something as casual as cargos or jean. .
5. Never go shopping alone – Most of the time, it’s complicated to decide whether or not the cloth is fitting at the spot, and sales people usually work for commission. Shop with a friend or another person who give their honest opinion.
6. Stay a notch above - Don’t overdo hardly, but dare to take some risks. It’s always better to be a little bit overdressed than underdressed in any setting. Think about where and whom you are going to be with, and step your wear up a notch. But pay attention to those who are certainly more important and avoid dressing better than them, for example your boss.
7. Never underestimate the power of details – The last thing on is usually the first thing noticed. So mind the details instead of focusing too much on your main items. “Details” can include a scarf, a subtle pocket square, or the way you tie your tie knot. (I will add a guide as soon as possible about this topic). A button that is soon to fall off, creates personality in your style.
8. Invest in a superb pair of shoes – If it’s one thing that women will notice, it’s your shoes. Especially how clean and sharp they look. Show that you’re a man of taste by getting a great pair of shoes and keeping them in pristine condition. Think about how common it is to wear a pair of Adidas. Think unique!
9. Fashion Tees with logos – When you’re going around with a big logo on your shirt, you risk looking like a walking billboard. Lose the lame Reebok shirt and go for something artsy (check out threadless.com for some inspiration).
10. Disregard trends – Beware of buying something just because it’s “in” right now - stick to what you truly like. A lot of people rush to purchase the latest trend and end up with a huge bunch of clothes they won’t ever wear. It’s better to build up a timeless wardrobe first, that you won’t throw out a couple of months later. Afterwards you can make your own twist with some of the new fashion and mix it with your “Standard wardrobe”. This tip is a enormous money saver!
11. Don’t be a sucker for brand names - Before you decide to purchase an item, ask yourself if you are buying it simply because of the brand name or because you love the quality and style. Ask yourself,  “Would this be trash if I removed the logo?”
12. Image is Game Breaking - Invest more time and money into your image. Your style is a huge mode of communication, and is worth caring for as much as your education, career, and relationships. It may even pay off in all of the above mentioned. Oscar Schoffler, longtime fashion editor of Esquire once said, “Never underestimate the power of what you wear. After all, there’s just a small bit of yourself sticking out at the collar and cuff. The rest of the world sees what you drape on your frame.”
13. Ask for real feedback - Most of your friends and family aren’t going to go out of their way to tell you what looks bad. You have to ask for it. In fact, ask anyone and everyone you trust to tell you the truth. Ask your best friend, ask people you met recently, ask your mother! Or start sharing your style on the internet. Lookbook.nu is a great place to get constructive comments or inspiration.
14. Upgrade your shave - Even if your fashion is golden, an unkempt beard can be an attraction killer. Achieve a perfect shave by trying a shave brush & old-fashioned double-edged razor. But keep in mind that some images look great with non shaved face.
15. Experiment with style – The only way you’ll really learn, is moving your limits. Go out there and try new things out! I often try something completely out of my comfort zone whenever I’m shopping – and plenty of times I end up loving something I never thought I would. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and if you make a mistake life goes on. So many guys are afraid to express themselves throught their style, don’t be one of them.

Next up is a how to guide, stay tuned.

Vintage - For Men

Introduction

Gone are the days when we cringe at the thought of rummaging through a charity shop, the days when we laugh at our grandfather for suggesting he owns something similar to an item of clothing we mentioned and the days when we thought eBay was only created as a place to buy cheap electronics and things that fell off the back of a truck. No, these are the days in which we look to the past for inspiration, classic style and something to wear the next time we step outside of the house. In recent years, vintage has become a huge inspiration for many fashionable male. With the transition of vintage fever moving from women to men and the ever increasing availability of vintage outside of London, now has never been a better time to look to the past as a means of developing your fashion future.

How To Shop Vintage

When shopping for vintage finds, it is important to remember that the most beautiful jewels are often found hidden amongst tons and tons of rock. We all remember that one childhood visit to the charity shop, Grandmother in tow, where you were forced to look at things that had holes in, smelt bad or had a suspicious stain located somewhere on the garment. So, here are a few tips to bear in mind when shopping for vintage.
1. If it doesn’t fit, don’t buy it.
One of the biggest problems with vintage shopping is that not only do you have to find something beautiful, but you also have to find it in your size. This can often lead to a culture of ‘it practically fits’ and ‘so it’s a little tight, who cares?’. Trust me, you’ll soon get sick of wearing that which doesn’t fit and before you know it, it will be at the back of your wardrobe, forgotten about.
2. Vintage does not mean shabby.
If it’s not in wearable condition, don’t wear it. A scratch or two here and there or a missing button aren’t major flaws – sometimes they even add character. However, an overtly visible rip or stain is far from stylish. If it’s not something unnoticeable or something you can't easily fix then you won’t wear it so don’t buy it, regardless of how cheap it is.
3. Think about current trends and classic style.
When thinking of how to incorporate vintage into your wardrobe, it’s best to divide pieces into two sections, those that are classic and those that are on trend. On trend pieces are items that fit a current trend, be it a vintage midnight blue blazer that fits Summer/Spring 11′s colour trend or a vintage aviator jacket for Autumn/Winter 10’s Burberry induced trend. A classic piece is something that transcends trends and is timelessly stylish. Perhaps a vintage
tan trench, tweed blazer or leather brogues.
Where To Shop Vintage

Shopping for vintage can often be a tricky ordeal, especially if you live outside of a major city. On the other hand, don’t assume that vintage stores are confined to your capitals center. For those who don’t live around the corner from Brick Lane or down the road from Portobello Market, there are many other places you can pick up a vintage find.
1. Check your local charity shop.
Charity shops are a great place to start looking for vintage bargains and just because it’s not a specialist vintage store it doesn’t mean you won’t find something worthwhile. Plus, because all the stock is donated, as opposed to being bought in, you can often find pieces for a lot cheaper than you would in a specialist store.
2. Check eBay.
EBay is a fantastic resource when shopping for vintage. In fact, myself and fellow Fashion Beans writer/vintage lover Ashley Cover, are both known to have spent a fair few evenings browsing the latest listings. However, it’s important to remember that you can’t try these items on and returns are rarely accepted when things don’t fit so ensure you double check all measurements and details carefully before you buy.
3. Check online.
Over the last few years, as the popularity of vintage has soared, more and more vintage stores are popping up online as a means of reaching more customers. One of London’s premier vintage destinations, Beyond Retro, a store that has long been a hit with stylists, fashion editors and fashionistos alike, has recently opened the virtual doors of its online shop. With a whole catalogue of clothes and accessories, all of which are easily findable thanks a detailed filtering option, Beyond Retro (
www.beyondretro.com) is definitely worth a bookmark on your toolbar.
4. Family Members.
Family members are undoubtedly one of the best sources of vintage. Old, unwanted or heirloom pieces have two amazing qualities. Firstly, they have a great personal story behind them and secondly, they’re probably free!

Editor Addition: ASOS Marketplace
ASOS have just launched their own ‘marketplace’ section of their site, and it looks like it could be a superb resource for second hand buys, vintage pieces and up and coming designers. You could potentially list your old items on there and make some money for your new season additions OR scour it for some wonderful vintage clothing. If you spend the time checking it everyday I am sure you will find some bargains, as well as some great shops listing in there:

Wheres The Alternative?!
So, you’ve browsed online, checked your local charity shop, pestered your Father and you still can’t find that perfect item? Well then look no further than the virtual high street. With both vintage and heritage styles becoming such staples of our own modern aesthetic, many high street and designer retailers are looking to the past for inspiration in their collections. Topman’s ‘Made in England’ range, a celebration of British Heritage at its best, is a prime example.
Heres some of the load they offer at asos.com:

At this moment im supposed to do some homework, but fell over this track: The Lonely Island - I just had sex. Music with a taste of humor, Priceless.
Anyway search some of the Lonely Island songs/videos for some great laughs, its completely worth it.
